Magnetorquer “SatBus MTQ”

Magnetorquers „SatBus MTQ“, designed by NanoAvionics, are a set of two x and y axis magnetorquer rods and one z axis magnetorquer coil which are mounted on a PC-104 form factor PCB to enable nano-satellite attitude control.

The system is designed as a part of NanoAvionics „SatBus“ nanosatellite platform but can be used with any third party ADCS controllers that can provide 3 PWM controlled voltage outputs to each torquer coil.

Magnetorquers „SatBus MTQ“, designed by NanoAvionics, are a set of two x and y axis magnetorquer rods and one z axis magnetorquer coil which are mounted on a PC-104 form factor PCB to enable nano-satellite attitude control.

    • 2 magnetorquer rods with soft magnet cores and 1 magnetorquer coil
    • Nominal magnetic dipole strength @ 5 V: 0.2 Am2
    • Supply voltage: up to 5 V
    • Maximum power consumption (full actuation of 3 axis) @ 5 V: 550 mW
    • Maximum torque at 380 km altitude orbit over Earth equator: 7.5 µNm (Assuming external magnetic field vector acting perpendicular to magnetic dipole axis and field strength of 3×10-5 Teslas)
